Lancashire leg-spinner Matt Parkinson will miss this winter’s England Lions tour of the UAE after scans revealed a stress fracture in his again.
The 22-year-old took 59 wickets in all codecs in 2018, and had been named in each the four-day and limited-overs squads to face Pakistan A.
He has been changed by Sussex left-arm spinner Danny Briggs.
“It is an actual disgrace for Matt that he is compelled to overlook the tour,” stated Lions head coach Andy Flower.
“He’ll see a spinal specialist this week as we attempt to decide the total extent of his harm.
“It does present a chance for Danny to show what he can do. He is a confirmed performer at county stage and, like Matt, he had a powerful summer time.”
Briggs, 27, took 57 wickets throughout all three codecs for Sussex final season.
